TOO MUCH INFORMATION! This captivating production of original monologues by women, now beginning its third year, is the culmination of a 12-week writing workshop run by Eva Tenuto, Sari Botton and Julie Novak. Through a series of prompts and timed writings, participants are encouraged to dig deep and reveal the stories they usually keep to themselves. A tolerant, safe environment allows everyone to share freely – and as a result, to touch, move, and inspire, with stories that are more universal than we’d realized when going through them alone. GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS by David Mamet. No stranger to the world of real estate sales, director Eva Tenuto fulfills her desire to stage an all-female version of this classic Mamet play about the cutthroat tactics and the lengths used to “close the deal.” Starling Productions was granted permission to stage the show in 2010 (attempts by other theatre companies across the nation to have women perform the show had previously been denied and even shut down) and on May 14, the show debuted at The Rosendale Theatre.

THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES by Eve Ensler. Director Eva Tenuto was asked by the United Way of Ulster County to stage a production of Eve Ensler’s timeless piece celebrating women. The show, featuring Academy Award winner Melissa Leo, helped raise thousands of dollars for United Way affiliate Hope’s Fund, a mentoring program for women in need, and Family of Woodstock Domestic Violence Shelter.

HIGH FALLS WONDERLAND was intended to be a gallery space and theater but when we found out days before our opening that the landlord did not have the proper zoning we had to change our plans fast. Rather than a place it became a movement–a movement on wheels (more specifically, a school bus). We picked up the audience at the intended venue, brought them aboard the Mysterymobile and took them to a local museum for African drumming, singing and belly dancing. They were then led across the street into the parking lot of the local firehouse to the tune of Come on Eileen by a clown-band and greeted by an aerial artist flying in the moonlight. The night was culminated by en evening of dancing. What could have been a cancellation turned into a magical community celebration. We plan to bring the bus to many more communities in the future.

THE DRAMA QUEENS: men dressed as women or women dressed as men dressed as women? Either way, Drama Queens found a way to create commentary on gender and sexuality through music, performance and comedy.
